about
narolane records says: “To state the obvious, 2020 has been a difficult year, but also a year of reflection and recalibration. Music has yet again provided us with more than entertainment. It’s been our escape when we needed it and a ray of sunshine in the storm. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support many of you have shown for the work we do here at narolane. We all can’t wait to see the back of this year but we couldn’t see it out without one little gift for you, so we asked our friends at DFL to join us on this anthem to spice up your holidays with this collaboration with Jafaris. Let’s dance a little!”
Jafaris says: “This song represents the mentality that I believe Ireland needs to adopt in order to be an example to the world. We have an opportunity to tackle the race issue that plagues our world by adding to the already potent culture that exists here through creativity, innovation and economics. I have ideas, so I shouted out my bro Michael D Higgins. Denise was already spreading a similar narrative and it only felt right to come together and express our views.”

If you’re looking for your black James Bond?
Anseo
Spice box, taxi by the centra?
Anseo
Sailor moon remixed by Fela,
C’est moi
I am not a queen I’m a Pharoah, sha
your black James Bond?
Anseo
Spice box, taxi by the centra?
Anseo
Sailor moon remixed by Fela,
C’est moi
I am not a queen I’m a Pharoah, sha
Call CNN or NBC, Sky News
Someone call the BBC
Everything’s feeling CCTV
Don’t watch, I’ll give you sum’n to see
Keep your gurus
I am not afraid of your juju
Can’t touch my Shaka Zulu
My little brother could slew you
With two good minutes and a lickle google search
Realize that I’m woke, but I’ll take a nice nap
Dont sleep on me blud I bite back
Bun a xanax, I don’t lack in good advice
Even my vices cant hold me back
I’ve done all the side quests
All the sound checks
Vision is high res
Racking up mileage
Everything I said I still stand by
I don’t idle no I don’t stand by
Check myself, I’ve gotta get my mind right
Can’t be looking like Dial up
I’m WiFi
Won’t stay courtside
Won’t beg a co-sign
Pen is a goldmine
I’m not inclined
To stop now that I’ve started
Back track, side step or half heart it
Couldn’t predict this if you natal chart it
Can’t navigate my stars
And no one can parr it
I’m your black James Bond

I’m not a queen I’m a Pharoah sha
Don’t call me king, don’t call me fam,
Call me pharoah, they high jacked,
All of our truth, like sparrow, where I’m at,
I’m bout to own a couple pieces of land ack,
Build a whole city and I’m making it jam packed,
But I need an army of 50 to back that,
I don’t wanna wait till I blow up like Baghdad,
Cool on my own but with the fam it’s the right pack,
Ohh yeah, tell me you like that,
I like it how they’re keeping us involved,
I like it how they let us do our thing and give us all the room to grow,
if I could get Michael D on the phone,
I’d tell him fair play, then I’d tell em bout the gap we have to be examples to the world, black and white we can make the Eire see wealth,
Put our sauce on a lot of things and show it to the world, and at the end of a long stretch
We’ll all eat...WELL!!

What was that again?
We’re back at it again and oh Lord they’re panicking again
What? Painicking again?
They’re panicking again
Cause it’s a shenanigan again
Wait, what was that again?

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
